The police in St. James have intensified the search for a teen who was kidnapped on Tuesday morning. Shakira Barker, 15, of Blue Hole in Montpelier was on her way from an agricultural show in that parish when she vanished.Shakira is of light complexion, five feet, five inches tall and was last seen wearing a pair of plaid red shorts, long sleeved white blouse and a pair of red shoes.
Shakira and a man were reportedly walking along the Blue Hole main road just after four o'clock in the morning when they were pounced upon by armed men. The man was shot and injured while Shakira was kidnapped.
The man remains hospitalised in serious condition while Shakira has not been heard from since. The St. James Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station. The community has been left tense since the incident.
